About Ma'ayan
Ma'ayan is the Hebrew word for wellspring, recalling the lyrical metaphor of Torah as the spring from which knowledge flows. Ma'ayan is also the Hebrew acronym for Machon Iyun le-Nashim, a Torah Studies Initiative for Women.
Ma'ayan nourishes both the spirit and the intellect in a supportive and inclusive atmosphere, where women of all ages and from a wide range of backgrounds are welcomed as they come to further their Jewish learning. Weekday, evening, and Sunday classes in Tanakh, Mishnah, Talmud, Jewish thought, and liturgy are offered at varied levels. In addition, Ma'ayan sponsors seminars and Yom Iyun and Leil Iyun programs (Days and Evenings of Learning), which are open to men and women.
When you commit to a full-length course or attend a mini-series, you will acquire sharper skills and greater knowledge of classical texts in a dynamic and stimulating environment. As a student at Ma'ayan, you will discover that the interaction of our students, faculty, and the text generates a unique and exciting learning experience. Whether you are exploring your Jewish heritage for the first time, or have been learning Torah your whole life, Ma'ayan enables you to fulfill your goals for Jewish learning.
Ma'ayan, based in the Boston metropolitan area, was founded in 1992 by Rabbi Dr. Seth Farber and Debbie Kram. Classes are held in Brighton, Brookline, Newton and Sharon.
