Can’t get to Israel this Winter? Ma’ayan is bringing Israel to you! This class is part of Ma’ayan’s Israeli Speaker Series where we bring some of Israel’s best Torah teachers right to your home computer.
How can archaeology help us understand life in the time of the Mishnah and the Talmud? Through a multimedia presentation, students will see what homes, streets, and life in general look like in Mishnaic times through archaeological finds compared with text from the Mishna and Talmud.
Shulie Mishkin made aliyah from New York with a Master’s degree in Jewish History from Columbia University. After completing the Ministry of Tourism guide course in 1997, she began guiding professionally and has since taught and guided all ages, from toddlers to retirees. Her tours provide a complete picture of the land of Israel and Jewish heritage, with a strong reliance on sources ranging from the Bible to 19th-century travelers’ reports.
